On May 8th, 2025, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) will welcome a group of physics students from Las Positas College for an exciting and educational visit focused on the cutting-edge science of fusion ignition and its potential to power the future.
Students will tour the world-renowned National Ignition Facility (NIF) — the site where researchers achieved a historic milestone in fusion ignition in December 2022 — and engage in conversations with LLNL scientists and engineers about how breakthroughs in fusion science and technology could lead to practical applications in inertial fusion energy.
This experience will offer students a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s most advanced energy research centers and a chance to see how science, engineering, and innovation come together to solve some of our biggest global challenges.
This event is by invitation and not open to the public.
