Recent breakthroughs at the National Ignition Facility have brought inertial fusion energy closer to practical power generation. This talk will highlight the evolving U.S. IFE program and discuss how SLAC is helping de-risk target designs, benchmark physics models, and accelerate innovation through AI-guided experiments and predictive simulations. The presentation will also share new results that test our ability to design future IFE implosions for fusion power plants.
