Author Kathryn Hulick will read an excerpt from her children's book The UFO Files: Notes on an Alien Encounter. Then she'll lead a drawing and writing activity that will inspire kids and teens to imagine a spacecraft powered by fusion energy -- and the aliens that pilot it. The reading will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 1pm ET on Zoom (registration info to follow).

Attendees should bring paper and a pencil. Colored pencils or markers are optional.

The UFO Files: a science fiction mystery!

The UFO Files is a graphic-novel style science fiction mystery that reads as if you've discovered the secret notebook of a UFO investigator known only as Polaris. With reports, emails, photos, and drawings, the book documents the arrival of an alien spaceship and the discovery of many wonders inside. Alongside the fictional story, sidebars introduce the real science behind the alien technology, from fusion energy to radio astronomy and rocket science.

The book and activity are best for ages 8 and up, though younger kids can enjoy both with the help of an adult.

Order The UFO Files from your favorite bookstore or ask your local library for a copy.
